Osteoarthritis affects around 27 million Indians. It is the gradual degradation of cartilage, that is crucial for cushioning our joints. Damaged, inflamed, and weak cartilage causes pain. However, what causes the cartilage to wear out as we get older? Senescent cells are cells that have stopped dividing, or just place stopped doing a great job. As we get older age, we tend to get a lot of and they low-performing cells and that they build up in joint cartilage (and elsewhere within the body), inflicting the cartilage to underperform.
